The main goal of the ISN is to be a platform for the exchange of information and cooperation between national federations all over the world. It also cares for the further development of and wants to guarantee a high quality standard of Shiatsu as a profession. The International Shiatsu Network aims at supporting the recognition of Shiatsu as a profession worldwide. Via NSE the network is also connected to Japan Shiatsu College, Tokyo.
In compliance with this goal ISN wants to
- spread, organize and represent Shiatsu internationally,
- support each other by consequent information, coordination and provision of documents like papers on the legal situations, curricula, definitions, code of ethics, quality standards and so on
- exchange cultural, historical, political and didactic experiences connected with Shiatsu
- discuss and pursue further common interests
The ISN is a non hierarchical network and acts on behalf of the associations. All decisions in the ISN are taken unanimously and with the explicit approval of the national committees. Projects pursued in the ISN’s name are the expression of the will of all the associations. They are achieved on a voluntary basis by the participating members.
The individual resources and means of the associations, all stemming from different national cultures, form the organizational and economic basis of the International Shiatsu Network.
